Genre: Comedy, romance
Pairing: Yabu/Hikari
Rating: PG
Summary: When Hikari becomes FC Janisu first female trainer Yabu has no intention of listening to her. They biker on the field, and he even gets himself send away the first training. Things evolve from bad to even worse, to the point he asks her to leave. But what if she wasn't as bad as he thought? Will he get his trainer back?
A female trainer.
It was a disgrace, they said. It was a sign that the male authority was no longer in tact and that females were slowly starting to lead things that should not have a female in charge, they said. They also said that the unknown female was highly educated in soccer if she knew the difference between off side and out of the lines, if only for female standards. Even so, a woman invading in their sacred sport was downright blasphemy!
Her name was Yoshiro Hikari, and only the sound of it gave away the image of a young, small woman. No one would take her serious, that was fore sure. She was younger than most of her players and the daughter of the man that owned the club, by name. Because other than dropping of a huge sum of money every year, he didn't participate in anything sport-related. Insane, to have such a beautiful club under your command, but doing nothing with it, people whispered. Nothing, but sending his 20 year old, probably horribly spoiled, daughter to the fields.
Before entering the training field, early on a Monday morning, the young men of FC Janisu had been lallygagging in the dressing room. So this girl thought she could handle 22 man? Hah! She probably couldn't even handle a single boyfriend, let alone a soccer team.
Upon entering the field, all of them had an image of a little Japanese girl with long wavy hair, big eyes, pouting lips and a pink jersey. However, as if they were struck by lightning the boys halted and looked at the female standing there, with a ball underneath her arm.
She wasn't even half Japanese and with her 180 centimeters high she hovered over almost 50 percent of the team. Her dark hair was tied back in a tight ponytail and her blue piercing eyes observed the team. Instead of the pink, cutesy jersey the men had imagined, she wore a simple one, with the team and her own name written on it. If it hadn't been for the obvious curves and the female-like features of her face the team had sworn that it was a young man standing in front of them.
She eyed the team carefully and no one dared to make a move, with their image crushed, this woman being scarily tall and probably not even Japanese no one knew what to say or do.
"Well, are you gonna play statue today or play soccer?" she asked in a fluent Japanese tongue, rolling her eyes and shooting the ball in the field. A canon ball, that ended right between the poles of the goal farthest away from her with a nice bow.
This simple action had set the new atmosphere and impressed mumbling erupted from the group as they shuffled their way to the field, waiting for instructions.
After a quick introduction from the female in which she told them her name, age and ethnicity the training started. Apparently the girl's father had married a half Dutch half German woman, while he himself was half American and half Japanese, this resulting in her western look but yet Japanese name.
Sometimes, during the training, the guys shot a nervous glance towards her. She who looked at them so critically that it was easy to forget she was a girl and made it them nervous because there was hardly ever a look of even a slight impression on her face.
It made the men eager to work harder, this was a female after all, she couldn't be much better herself. She had to be impressed and pleased with their play at some point. All of them seemed to search for a look of approval. All of them, but one.
Yabu Kouta, a young and haughty central attacker. Not pleased by the fact that he was being told what to do by a girl, he found himself rebelling towards her instructions. Rather then to do what he was being told, he shot the ball towards the wrong players, used the wrong leg to shoot and at some point even swore he was the goalkeeper.
At first the girl tried to ignore his childish actions, swearing she was the more mature one. However, the more she tried to be mature and even understanding, the more the boy saw reason to disturb her flow.
"Fuck it," she hissed under her breath, she wasn't the 'always nice girl,' she had tried, she failed, she was done with it.
"KOUTA!" No last names, no honorifics, just a loud name echoed over the field.
His eyes twinkled, he finally had pushed her over the edge, she would be gone in a bit. "What's up coach?" he asked, the malice dripping off his voice.
"You're done. You can go home and come back tomorrow." She trew him a glare, "if you think you can act like a grown-up that is. If not, I could always ask if they want to place you in the children's division if you'd rather act like one?"
Gone was the victorious smirk on his face, as he felt crimson creeping up his jawline. This was by far not how he had imagined it to be. "You can't send me home?! I'm your best man on the field," he said, his voice low not even trying to suppress the wave of anger that flowed through his body.
"Can. And will." She answered, her voice equally dark, "his is my field and my training. If you're as good as you say you are, show me. Tomorrow."
With those words she turned her back towards him, instructing the other players to go on with what they were doing. The incident had set its tone, because no one thought about defying her and quickly went on with their practice.
Yabu threw her one last angry glance, before barging off the field.
"Who the hell does she think she is?!" Kouta slammed his fist on the table.
Takaki blinked, fidgeting with his sleeves not entirely sure what to answer, but Inoo didn't look even he slightest bit impressed. "Your trainer Kou," he answered before taking a sip from his drink and eying his friend. "What you did was, sort of, childish. If she's really as tall as you say she is, you must be glad she didn't kick your ass. Because you would have none left."
Takaki stifled a giggle, but remained silent after another glare from the older male. Directly after that he turned his attention to Inoo again, "so what you're saying is, that I deserved to be humiliated in front of my whole team and to be send home?!"
Inoo's piercing dark orbs looked at his friend from behind his specs, trying to find a way to formulate a decent answer. "No. I think she could have been more subtle and give you a warning before hand." The dark haired male said.
There was a victorious grin on the other's face. "But," Inoo continued, "you were wrong in the first place by degrading her because of her gender. So what you're gonna do tomorrow is tell her your sorry and do what she wants you to do. Showing her you indeed are, the best man on the field. Next time she won't even think about sending you home."
Yabu grumbled some angry answer while sipping from his drink and Inoo knew he had won him over. Takaki at his friends, from Yabu and back to Inoo with a look of admiration. "Go, Kei-chan."
"Who the fuck does he think he is?!" she mumbled as she stuffed her face with ramen. "Twese rawen are dewicuos, Dwai-chan," she added with her mouth full, nodding towards the young ramen stand owner.
Hikaru shook his head, "you shouldn't have snapped like that 'Kari-chan."
She swallowed her ramen and glared at him, "so I should have just let him ruin my training?! No way, just because he's a man."
"You could have at least tried to understand his situation, it's not easy for a guy to simply listen to a girl all the time," Hikaru said calmly as Daiki, nodded his head. "Hikaru-kun is right. That usually happens after marriage only."
The girl frowned, "you two've always listened to me even though I'm a girl. So what's the difference between you and them?"
"We are used to your bossy behavior, and when I was little I thought your blue eyes would shoot lasers at me if I didn't listen," the oldest male grinned, earning a laughter from the younger man and a slap on his arm from the girl.
Muffling away her last bit of ramen the girl stared into nothing, over-thinking her action, still not convinced that what she did was wrong. "So you think I over-reacted?"
"We hadn't expected anything else from you." The light brown haired male laughed, after which his face turned serious. "But I do trust you, you will make this right tomorrow."
Hikari slammed her head on the table as she mumbled, "one more bowl please."
"I take that as a yes," Hikaru grinned, slurping away his own noodles.
The next morning Hikari was sorting out her supplies, waiting for the men to enter the field. She had figured she could best take Hikaru's advice and take the young attacker aside for a moment to clear the uneasiness during the upcoming season.
However, she had not expected the male to enter the soccer field first, dragging her along.
"Wha-what's?" she managed to say as he finally stopped walked.
"I'm sorry about yesterday. I still don't like you, but it seems we have to work with each other. Can we put yesterdat aside and start over-new? For club;s sake of course."
The girl blinked and looked at the man in fort of her. A small smirk appeared on her face, "okay. Apology accepted. I guess I could have been less uptight yesterday, so I'm sorry for that too. I hope we can work well together, Yabu-san?"
The man nodded, sticking out his hand. "Deal."
Grabbing the hand and shaking it fiercely the female trainer nodded, "deal."
